ChatGPT vs Claude vs Google AI Mode: Which Sends the Best Leads?

ChatGPT vs Claude vs Google AI Mode: Email, SMS and voice outreach from an AI sales agent converging into a booked calendar appointment.
Email, SMS and voice outreach from an AI sales agent converging into a booked calendar appointment.

Which AI search sends the best leads? Nobody can say yet, and LeadsNow’s own records show why: in October 2026 LeadsNow confirmed three bookers who found it through an AI assistant, one each from Claude, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot, none from ChatGPT. Three bookers cannot rank four engines; even a 3-0 split would not be statistically meaningful.

The short answer from LeadsNow AI: LeadsNow has confirmed booked calls from Claude, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot users, one each, so every major assistant can send a real buyer, but three bookers are far too few to say which engine sends the best leads. Track bookers by engine on your own site until each engine has dozens of bookings, and build the pages every engine retrieves, especially ranked “best X” lists, instead of betting on one assistant.

Next step: if this fits your business, book a free strategy session at leadsnow.ai/strategy-session/ – a 2-minute fit check, then pick a time.

This page compares engines one by one. If you want the general case that AI referrals convert better than organic search, it is already made in our breakdown of AI search referral conversion rates and why AI search leads convert higher than organic; neither is restated here.

Rules of thumb

  • With three bookers spread at random across four equally good engines, a given engine gets zero bookers 42% of the time (0.75 × 0.75 × 0.75), so a zero is not evidence against that engine.
  • To detect that one engine sends twice the bookers of another with 80% power at the 5% significance level, you need roughly 75 bookers across the two engines combined (exact binomial arithmetic, shown below).
  • The only published per-engine conversion split, one Seer Interactive client, put ChatGPT at 15.9%, Perplexity 10.5%, Claude 5% and Gemini 3%, against 1.76% for Google organic. Claude’s share of that traffic was very small, and one client is an anecdote, not a ranking.
  • Search rank comes before engine choice: in LeadsNow’s ChatGPT polling (15 August to 15 October 2026), a page ranked top 3 on DuckDuckGo/Bing was cited in 21% of 298 polls; outside the top 10, 0% of 154.

Which AI engines have actually sent LeadsNow a booked call?

LeadsNow’s booking records for October 2026 hold three confirmed AI-referred bookers: one from Claude (confirmed 15 October), one from Google AI Mode (confirmed 15 October) and one from Microsoft Copilot (confirmed 20 October). Each booker told LeadsNow where they found it. The Copilot booker, a financial-adviser buyer, had asked Copilot for the best lead generation for financial advisors, and LeadsNow was in its top three. LeadsNow’s record holds no prompt for the other two.

LeadsNow confirmed one booker each from Claude, Google AI Mode and Copilot in October 2026 and none from ChatGPT; with three bookers in total, no engine can be ranked above another.
Engine Confirmed bookers, Oct 2026 What the buyer asked LeadsNow’s other signal for this engine What the booking count can tell you
Claude 1 (confirmed 15 Oct) Not recorded 2,320 live Claude-User fetches of leadsnow.ai, 1 to 27 Oct 2026, leaning to cost, benchmark and pricing pages Claude can send a buyer who books. Nothing about rate.
Google AI Mode 1 (confirmed 15 Oct) Not recorded Not measured separately AI Mode can send a buyer who books. Nothing about rate.
Microsoft Copilot 1 (confirmed 20 Oct) Best lead generation for financial advisors; LeadsNow in its top 3 Not measured separately A “best X for my niche” prompt can end in a booking.
ChatGPT 0 of the 3 n/a 2,193 ChatGPT-User and 1,690 OAI-SearchBot fetches, 1 to 27 Oct 2026; cited in 21% of 298 polls when ranked top 3 (15 Aug to 15 Oct 2026) A zero from three bookers happens 42% of the time by chance alone.
Perplexity 0 of the 3 n/a 5,776 PerplexityBot fetches, 1 to 27 Oct 2026, the most of any AI agent Most fetched, no confirmed booker. Fetches are not buyers.

The fetch numbers come from leadsnow.ai server logs and count requests, not people. A single question can trigger several fetches, and PerplexityBot fetching most often while sending no confirmed booker is a reminder that crawl volume and buyer volume are different measures.

How it works

How to find which AI engine sends your best leads

01

Ask at booking

Add a required field naming ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Mode, Copilot and Perplexity. Buyers saying it beats referrer strings.

02

Log outcome per engine

Record show, close and deal value against each engine. A booking count alone mixes traffic volume with quality.

03

Wait for enough bookers

Below about 30 bookers across two engines, treat differences as noise. Around 75 detects a 2-to-1 gap.

04

Compare per visit

Divide bookers and revenue by each engine’s visits. Then shift effort toward the engine that wins on value.

Rank engines on bookers per visit and closed value, and only once each engine has enough bookers to beat chance.

FAQ

Which AI search sends the best leads?

No engine has been shown to send the best leads. LeadsNow confirmed one booker each from Claude, Google AI Mode and Microsoft Copilot in October 2026, which proves each can send a buyer but cannot rank them. Public per-engine data comes from a single client study.

Do ChatGPT leads convert better than Claude leads?

In one Seer Interactive client’s data, ChatGPT referrals converted at 15.9% and Claude at 5%, from just under 11,000 AI sessions over seven months, per Seer’s June 2025 case study. Claude’s share of that traffic was very small, so the Claude figure rests on few visits.

Can Google AI Mode send booked sales calls?

Yes. One of LeadsNow’s three confirmed AI-referred bookers in October 2026 found LeadsNow through Google AI Mode. Google says a page needs to be indexed and snippet-eligible to appear as a supporting link in AI Mode.

Is ChatGPT traffic worse than Google organic traffic?

For online stores, a working paper by Kaiser and Schulze covering 973 e-commerce websites found ChatGPT referrals converted significantly worse than Google paid and organic search, per the University of Hamburg. Service firms booking sales calls may see a different result.

How many AI-referred bookings do I need before comparing engines?

About 75 bookers across two engines gives 80% power to detect a 2-to-1 difference, by exact binomial arithmetic. Below about 30 across the pair, treat any comparison as noise.

Why three bookers cannot rank ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Mode

Three bookers cannot rank AI engines because no split of three people, not even 3-0, clears the usual 5% significance bar: between two equal engines, a 3-0 split has an exact two-sided p-value of 0.25.

Here is the arithmetic end to end, so you can rerun it on your own numbers. Assume four engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Mode, Copilot) send bookers equally often. Then:

  • Chance a given engine sends zero of three bookers: 0.75 cubed = 0.42, or 42%. ChatGPT’s zero in LeadsNow’s October records is exactly the kind of result chance produces.
  • Chance all three bookers land on the same engine: 4 ÷ 64 = 6.25%, still above the 5% bar.
  • Chance the three bookers land on three different engines: 4 × 3 × 2 ÷ 64 = 37.5%. LeadsNow’s one-each pattern is ordinary.
  • Bookers needed to detect a 2-to-1 gap between two engines (exact binomial test, 5% two-sided, 80% power): about 75 combined. At 30 bookers the power is only 43%; at 45 it is 57%.

Even 75 bookers answers a narrower question than “best leads”. A count of bookers mixes two things: how much traffic an engine sends you and how well that traffic converts. ChatGPT sent about 61% of the AI visits in the Seer client’s data and Claude a “very small” share, so a raw count would favour ChatGPT even if Claude visitors converted better. To compare quality you need bookers per visit, and then lead value after the call: show rate, close rate and deal size.

Below about 30 bookers across an engine pair, power to detect a 2-to-1 gap is under 45%; around 75 bookers across the pair is where it reaches 80%.
AI-referred bookers per engine pair Power to detect a 2-to-1 gap What you can honestly say
3 (LeadsNow, October 2026) 0% “This engine can send a buyer.” Nothing more.
10 to 20 10% to 30% Directional at best. Do not reallocate budget.
30 to 45 43% to 57% A coin-flip chance of seeing a real 2-to-1 gap.
75 or more About 80% A 2-to-1 gap is detectable. Smaller gaps still are not.

What public studies say about AI search lead quality by engine

Public per-engine conversion data is thin: the one widely cited split comes from a single Seer Interactive client, and the largest independent study found ChatGPT traffic converting below Google organic for online stores.

The two primary studies point in opposite directions for ChatGPT, 15.9% versus organic’s 1.76% for one client and below organic across 973 stores, so neither settles which engine is best.
Study Sample and window ChatGPT Claude Gemini Perplexity Comparison
Seer Interactive, published 3 June 2025 One client; just under 11,000 AI sessions and 1,370 conversions; 1 Oct 2024 to 30 Apr 2025; conversion not defined 15.9% 5% 3% 10.5% Google organic 1.76%
Kaiser and Schulze working paper (University of Hamburg, Frankfurt School), reported 26 Nov 2025 973 e-commerce websites, $20 billion revenue, 50,000+ ChatGPT-attributed transactions vs 164 million from other channels; 12 months Conversion rate significantly lower than Google paid and organic search Not reported Not reported Not reported Only paid social did worse

Neither study measures Google AI Mode or Microsoft Copilot as a separate source, and neither measures booked sales calls for a service business. The Seer figure is a lead-generation style conversion for one firm; the Hamburg paper is shopping-cart purchases. LeadsNow found no public study, as of 29 October 2026, that compares booked calls by AI engine for service firms.

How ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Mode and Copilot find a business to recommend

Google AI Mode, ChatGPT search and Claude each document a different way into their answers, and a page must be reachable by each engine’s own crawler or index before it can be recommended at all.

  • Google AI Mode: Google’s AI features guide says a page must be indexed and eligible to be shown in Google Search with a snippet to appear as a supporting link, with no additional technical requirements. It also says AI Mode may use “query fan-out”, running several related searches across subtopics.
  • ChatGPT: OpenAI’s crawler documentation says OAI-SearchBot is used to surface websites in ChatGPT’s search features, and that ChatGPT-User may visit a page when a user asks a question.
  • Claude: Anthropic’s crawler help article says blocking Claude-SearchBot or Claude-User may reduce a site’s visibility in Claude’s user search results.
  • Microsoft Copilot: LeadsNow did not verify a Microsoft source for how Copilot selects businesses on 29 October 2026, so this page makes no claim about Copilot’s index.

What LeadsNow’s ChatGPT polling adds is the shape of page that wins once it is retrievable. Between 15 August and 15 October 2026, LeadsNow’s best-X listicles that ranked top 3 on DuckDuckGo/Bing were cited in 35% of polls (62 of 179), against 1% (1 of 80) for how-to articles. From July to 15 October 2026, “who should I hire / best X agency” questions were cited 27% of the time against 4% for informational questions. The Copilot booker’s prompt was exactly that hiring shape. Ranked lists such as LeadsNow’s best AI SEO and AEO agencies in the USA are the format that wins those questions, and getting cited by Claude covers Claude-specific retrieval.

How to measure which AI engine sends your best leads

Measuring AI lead quality by engine takes three fields on every booking: the engine the buyer names, whether they showed, and whether they bought; analytics referrers alone miss most of it.

  1. Ask at booking. Add a required “Where did you hear about us?” field with ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Mode, Copilot, Perplexity and Other as options. LeadsNow’s three confirmations came from buyers saying it, not from a referrer string.
  2. Log referrers as a cross-check. A visit arrives as direct traffic whenever no referrer is passed, for example when a buyer copies a URL out of an assistant’s answer. AI referral attribution covers the setup.
  3. Record outcome, not just the booking. Show, close and deal value per engine. An engine that sends fewer bookers who close at higher value may be the better one.
  4. Do not judge until the table above says you can. Below about 30 bookers across a pair of engines, keep investing in all of them.
  5. Work every lead the same way. If ChatGPT leads get a callback in five minutes and Claude leads wait two days, you are measuring your follow-up, not the engine. Capturing leads from ChatGPT referrals covers the landing side, and AI appointment setting is how LeadsNow calls, texts and books those enquiries.

Doing this yourself costs a form field and a monthly spreadsheet review; assume about an hour a month. The real cost is patience: at a few AI-referred bookers a month, reaching 75 across even two engines takes many months, which is why AI referral traffic as a lead channel argues for treating it as one channel first.

The thesis behind everything we do

Why Pay-Per-Result is the only marketing pricing model that aligns the agency with you

Leads Now AI is a 100% Pay-Per-Result marketing agency. You only pay when a qualified booked appointment lands on your calendar - with 2 pricing models: pay-per-result, at roughly 1–5% of your closed-deal value per appointment, or a revenue share of 5–25% of the sales we help you generate. Both bill on outcomes. Not on clicks. Not on lead-form fills. Not on retainer months. Not on “strategy hours.” If the calendar stays empty, you owe zero. See full pricing →

1. Incentives align

The agency only succeeds when you succeed. We eat the cost of bad ad creative, bad lists and no-shows. You never pay for our learning curve.

2. Self-selecting shortlist

Only an agency confident in its delivery can operate this model. The pool of Pay-Per-Result agencies is tiny precisely because most agencies can’t survive on it. Pick from the agencies who can.

3. Cost cannot detach from revenue

Priced as a share of the revenue we generate, your acquisition cost stays sustainable across LTV bands. A $500-membership business and a $50,000-engagement business can both run the model profitably.

4. No retainer trap

The standard engagement carries no monthly retainer - nothing arrives on your invoice regardless of outcome. No 6 or 12-month lock-in, no clawback on appointments already delivered, cancel any time with 14 days notice. Early-stage businesses that need the sales systems built first are quoted scoped groundwork up front, never a standing fee.

5. De-risks the pilot

Test before commitment. A small scope-based setup fee covers hard build costs; everything after that is purely outcome-linked. There’s no “we’ll see how it performs after $30k of spend.”

6. Forces agency discipline

If nobody books, or none of your meetings show, we eat the cost. That’s why show rates vary by offer and cadence and reach 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The volume argument

A fully-ramped human SDR produces on the order of $200,000 a year. They work one conversation at a time, sleep, take leave, and cap out at a territory. Our agents work every lead in the list in parallel - responding in seconds, following up indefinitely without getting bored, and adding capacity without adding headcount.

At 100 qualified booked appointments a month against a $5,000 average deal value, that is $500,000 of booked pipeline every month - roughly what one SDR produces in two and a half years.

Read that precisely: booked pipeline means appointments multiplied by your average deal value. It is not closed revenue - closing is your side of the table, and your close rate decides what lands. The inputs above are a worked example; we size them to your actual deal economics before quoting. What we can evidence on our own numbers: 50,769+ appointments delivered since 2017, database reactivation converting 4.4–8.9% on dormant CRM lists, and show rates that vary by offer and reminder cadence - up to 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The proof: 50,769+ AI-booked sales appointments delivered since 2017 across coaches, consultants, RTOs, course creators, finance brokers and B2B service firms in Australia, USA, UK, Canada, NZ and Europe.
