Life coaches in Australia charge about A$50 to A$300 or more per session, plus GST: entry-level coaches A$50–$100, mid-tier A$100–$150 and top-tier A$150–$300+, according to Bark Australia’s 2026 guide. The 2023 ICF Global Coaching Study puts the Oceania average, across all coaching types, at US$259 per one-hour session (about A$373).

The short answer from LeadsNow AI: Most Australian life coaches charge between A$50 and A$300 per session plus GST, with online sessions around A$80 to A$120 and city face-to-face sessions around A$120 to A$200. LeadsNow recommends setting the fee from your income target and the Recovery Ratio, because the ICF Oceania figures imply a coach earns about a third of the session fee for every hour spent on coaching work.

Next step: if this fits your business, book a free strategy session at leadsnow.ai/strategy-session/ – a 2-minute fit check, then pick a time.

  • Per session (Bark Australia, updated 11 August 2026): A$50–$100 entry-level, A$100–$150 mid-tier, A$150–$300+ top-tier, all quoted plus GST.
  • By format: online sessions around A$80–$120; face-to-face in Sydney or Melbourne A$120–$200; regional rates may sit 15% to 20% below metro.
  • Oceania average, all coaching types (ICF, 2022 data): US$259 per one-hour session, 13.8 active clients, US$58,800 average annual coaching revenue.
  • The Recovery Ratio: Oceania coaches recover US$85 per hour of coaching work against a US$259 session fee, a ratio of about 0.33.
  • GST: a coach with A$75,000 or more in annual GST turnover must register and add 10% (ATO).
  • Packages: no national survey of Australian package prices exists; the package table below is arithmetic on the per-session ranges.

Rules of thumb (plain arithmetic from the worked examples on this page):

  • If you charge A$150 a session and want A$80,000 a year over 46 weeks, expect to need about 11.6 paid sessions every week.
  • If your Recovery Ratio matches the ICF Oceania average of 0.33, expect those 11.6 paid sessions to take about 35 hours of coaching work a week.
  • If you sell a 12-session package at A$150, expect a price of A$1,800 plus GST, or A$1,980 including GST.
  • If you price at the ICF Oceania average (about A$373), expect the same income target to need fewer than 5 paid sessions a week.

How much do life coaches charge per session in Australia?

Australian life coaches charge about A$50 to A$300 or more per session plus GST in 2026, with the coach’s experience and the session format moving the price most. The only current Australia-specific published ranges we could find are Bark Australia’s; the ICF figure is a regional average across every coaching type, including executive coaching, so it sits above most life-coaching prices.

Published Australian life coaching prices run from A$50 to A$300+ per session plus GST, below the ICF Oceania all-coaching average of US$259, about A$373.

The regional row applies Bark’s 15% to 20% discount to its metro range: A$120 × 0.80 = A$96 and A$200 × 0.85 = A$170. The A$373 converts US$259 at the Reserve Bank’s 16 October 2026 rate of 0.6947 US dollars per Australian dollar; it converts a 2022 fee at a 2026 exchange rate, so treat it as a reference point, not a current Australian price. Executive coaching is priced differently again, and our executive coaching pricing models page covers hourly, programme and retainer structures for that market.

How it works

How an Australian life coach turns a target income into a session fee

01

Set the income target

Write the annual coaching income you need, excluding GST, and the weeks you will actually coach.

02

Count paid sessions

Divide the weekly target by your session fee to get the paid sessions you must sell each week.

03

Apply the Recovery Ratio

Divide paid sessions by about 0.33, the ICF Oceania ratio, to see total coaching-work hours.

04

Package or raise the fee

If the hours do not fit, raise the fee, sell packages or add a group format before adding clients.

A fee only works if the paid sessions it needs, and the unpaid hours around them, fit your week.

What is the Recovery Ratio, and why does a coach’s fee look higher than their income?

The Recovery Ratio is a coach’s revenue per hour of coaching work divided by the session fee: about 0.33 for Oceania coaches in the ICF data. The 2023 ICF study reports an Oceania average fee of US$259 per one-hour session, US$85 average hourly revenue recovered and 13.3 hours a week spent working as a coach.

The check: US$58,800 annual revenue ÷ (13.3 hours × 52 weeks) = US$85 per hour, and US$85 ÷ US$259 = 0.328. On those averages, roughly one hour in three of coaching work is paid at the full fee; the ICF does not break the other hours down, but they cover things like preparation, notes, admin, follow-up and finding clients. That is why the session fee alone tells you little about whether a price works. Run it forwards with your own target instead:

  1. Annual coaching income target, excluding GST: A$80,000 (assumption).
  2. Weeks you will coach: 46 (assumption, allowing for leave and quiet periods).
  3. Weekly income needed: A$80,000 ÷ 46 = A$1,739.
  4. Paid sessions a week at A$150: A$1,739 ÷ A$150 = 11.6.
  5. Coaching-work hours a week at a 0.328 Recovery Ratio: 11.6 ÷ 0.328 = 35.3.
The Fee-to-Week table: at the ICF Oceania Recovery Ratio of 0.328, a A$100 fee needs 53 hours of coaching work a week to earn A$80,000; A$373 needs about 14.
Session fee (ex GST) Paid sessions a week for A$80,000 over 46 weeks Coaching-work hours a week at 0.328 What the number says
A$100 17.4 53.0 Above a full-time week: raise the fee or sell packages first
A$150 11.6 35.3 Workable full-time if you hold a steady client list
A$250 7.0 21.2 Fits part-time; client acquisition becomes the constraint
A$373 (ICF Oceania average) 4.7 14.2 Close to the 13.3 weekly hours the ICF reports for Oceania

Our working rule from this table: if the coaching-work hours for your fee come out above 40 a week, the fee is too low for your income target, whatever competitors charge. The 0.328 is a regional average across all coaching types; your own ratio may be higher with a full calendar or lower while you are building one, so recalculate it from your own revenue and hours.

How much does a life coaching package cost in Australia?

A life coaching package in Australia works out at about A$600 to A$6,000 plus GST on Bark’s per-session prices, depending on how many sessions it contains and the fee per session. Bark’s guide does not publish package prices and we found no national survey of them, so the table below simply multiplies its per-session ranges by common package lengths.

At A$100 to A$250 a session, a 12-session package costs A$1,200 to A$3,000 plus GST; GST at 10% lifts the A$1,800 middle case to A$1,980.
Package (assumption) At A$100 a session At A$150 a session At A$250 a session
6 sessions (about 3 months, fortnightly) A$600 (A$660 inc GST) A$900 (A$990 inc GST) A$1,500 (A$1,650 inc GST)
12 sessions (about 6 months, fortnightly) A$1,200 (A$1,320 inc GST) A$1,800 (A$1,980 inc GST) A$3,000 (A$3,300 inc GST)
24 sessions (about 12 months, fortnightly) A$2,400 (A$2,640 inc GST) A$3,600 (A$3,960 inc GST) A$6,000 (A$6,600 inc GST)

Coaches often add messaging support, workbooks or a closing review to a package, and some discount the per-session price in exchange for the commitment. Those choices change the total, but the base arithmetic stays the same: sessions × fee, plus GST if registered. A package also changes the Recovery Ratio, because it removes the selling time attached to each single session. For selling packages as a cohort instead, see how to sell group coaching programs.

Do Australian life coaches charge GST?

Australian life coaches must charge GST once their annual GST turnover reaches A$75,000, the ATO’s registration threshold. Below that, registration is optional. This is why Bark notes that rates are typically quoted plus GST and advises confirming whether tax is included before booking.

For a coach, the threshold arrives sooner than it sounds: at A$150 a session, A$75,000 is 500 sessions a year, or about 10.9 a week over 46 weeks. A coach who crosses it either absorbs the 10% (a A$150 inclusive price becomes A$136.36 net of GST) or lifts the sticker price to A$165. Clients compare sticker prices, so decide which before you publish a rate. This is general information; check your own position with the ATO or a registered tax agent.

If we can’t make you money, we don’t deserve yours.

What makes one life coach charge more than another?

Experience, who pays, and the client’s seniority move a life coach’s fee more than any credential, according to the ICF’s 2023 study. The study reports that more experienced coaches report higher fees per session, that fees rise with the share of clients whose coaching is sponsored (paid for by someone other than the client), and that coaches serving executives command the highest hourly fees.

  • Format: Bark’s ranges put online sessions (A$80–$120) below city face-to-face sessions (A$120–$200).
  • Location: regional face-to-face pricing may sit 15% to 20% below metro.
  • Niche: a coach whose clients are business owners or executives prices nearer the ICF average than a general wellbeing coach; that is the gap between the A$150 mid-tier ceiling and the A$373 regional average.
  • Credential: we found no public source linking an ICF credential level to a specific Australian fee increase, so we do not put a number on it.

Life coaching is not therapy. If what you need is treatment for anxiety, depression or another mental health condition, start with a GP or a registered psychologist, not a coach.

What does a life coach spend to win each client?

A life coach’s cost to win a client has no public Australian benchmark, but it must fit inside the fee. On a A$1,800 package, every A$100 spent winning the client is 5.6% of revenue. That is the reason the fee and the acquisition plan have to be set together rather than one after the other.

The do-it-yourself route is the referral, content and discovery-call routine most coaches already run, and it costs time rather than cash: the unpaid two hours in every three that the Recovery Ratio describes. It holds up well until the calendar needs more than a few new clients a month. The ranked guide to lead generation agencies for Australian life coaches uses the ICF client count to work out how many held discovery calls a month you actually need, and why coaching leads say they cannot afford it covers the pricing objection itself. For how booked discovery calls are handled for coaches, see lead generation and appointment setting for coaches.

The thesis behind everything we do

Why Pay-Per-Result is the only marketing pricing model that aligns the agency with you

Leads Now AI is a 100% Pay-Per-Result marketing agency. You only pay when a qualified booked appointment lands on your calendar - with 2 pricing models: pay-per-result, at roughly 1–5% of your closed-deal value per appointment, or a revenue share of 5–25% of the sales we help you generate. Both bill on outcomes. Not on clicks. Not on lead-form fills. Not on retainer months. Not on “strategy hours.” If the calendar stays empty, you owe zero. See full pricing →

1. Incentives align

The agency only succeeds when you succeed. We eat the cost of bad ad creative, bad lists and no-shows. You never pay for our learning curve.

2. Self-selecting shortlist

Only an agency confident in its delivery can operate this model. The pool of Pay-Per-Result agencies is tiny precisely because most agencies can’t survive on it. Pick from the agencies who can.

3. Cost cannot detach from revenue

Priced as a share of the revenue we generate, your acquisition cost stays sustainable across LTV bands. A $500-membership business and a $50,000-engagement business can both run the model profitably.

4. No retainer trap

The standard engagement carries no monthly retainer - nothing arrives on your invoice regardless of outcome. No 6 or 12-month lock-in, no clawback on appointments already delivered, cancel any time with 14 days notice. Early-stage businesses that need the sales systems built first are quoted scoped groundwork up front, never a standing fee.

5. De-risks the pilot

Test before commitment. A small scope-based setup fee covers hard build costs; everything after that is purely outcome-linked. There’s no “we’ll see how it performs after $30k of spend.”

6. Forces agency discipline

If nobody books, or none of your meetings show, we eat the cost. That’s why show rates vary by offer and cadence and reach 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The volume argument

A fully-ramped human SDR produces on the order of $200,000 a year. They work one conversation at a time, sleep, take leave, and cap out at a territory. Our agents work every lead in the list in parallel - responding in seconds, following up indefinitely without getting bored, and adding capacity without adding headcount.

At 100 qualified booked appointments a month against a $5,000 average deal value, that is $500,000 of booked pipeline every month - roughly what one SDR produces in two and a half years.

Read that precisely: booked pipeline means appointments multiplied by your average deal value. It is not closed revenue - closing is your side of the table, and your close rate decides what lands. The inputs above are a worked example; we size them to your actual deal economics before quoting. What we can evidence on our own numbers: 50,769+ appointments delivered since 2017, database reactivation converting 4.4–8.9% on dormant CRM lists, and show rates that vary by offer and reminder cadence - up to 93% on our best-performing accounts.
