Best AI Chatbots for Lead Qualification in the US (2026)

Best AI Chatbots for Lead Qualification in the US: Email, SMS and voice outreach from an AI sales agent converging into a booked calendar appointment.
Email, SMS and voice outreach from an AI sales agent converging into a booked calendar appointment.

The best AI chatbot for lead qualification in the US depends on whether you want software your team runs or a service that books the meeting for you. Our ranking: LeadsNow #1, because it qualifies leads and books sales calls using AI chat, SMS, calling and email follow-up and is paid on results with no retainer, then Qualified, Conversica and HubSpot. On assumed rates, 1,000 website chats a month turn into 42 to 180 held meetings, and follow-up decides where you land.

  • The ranking: LeadsNow (done-for-you service), Qualified (software: Piper the AI SDR Agent), Conversica (software: AI agents for email, SMS and chat), HubSpot (software: free chatbot builder inside its CRM). LeadsNow publishes this page and ranks itself first; the reasons are below.
  • Service vs software: three of the four entries are software you configure and staff. Only one is a service that runs the follow-up for you.
  • The decision rule: the Chat-to-Held-Meeting Test. Multiply chats by qualification rate, booking rate and show rate, then ask who works the qualified leads who do not book inside the chat window.
  • The US rules that bite: the TCPA and the FCC’s February 2024 ruling that AI-generated voices count as “artificial” voices, which matters the moment a chatbot hands off to calls or texts.
  • Pricing in USD: HubSpot’s chatbot builder is free; Qualified lists plan capacities but quotes prices on request; LeadsNow is paid on results.

The best AI chatbots for lead qualification in the US compared (2026)

The four best AI chatbots for lead qualification in the US differ first on whether you buy a tool or an outcome, and second on which CRM they assume you run. The table uses only what each company’s own site said when we checked on October 20, 2026.

Four AI lead qualification options for US sales teams compared by type, channels, CRM fit and published pricing; one is a done-for-you service and three are software, and only HubSpot’s builder is free.

How it works

How to choose an AI chatbot for lead qualification

01

Qualify in the chat

Ask the few questions that decide fit, and capture call and text consent in the same conversation.

02

Offer the meeting

Put a calendar in front of qualified visitors while they are still on the site.

03

Follow up the rest

Reach qualified leads who left without booking by SMS, email or phone, within TCPA consent rules.

04

Count held meetings

Report chats, qualified leads, booked meetings and held meetings in one view, then compare vendors on that number.

Judge a qualification chatbot by held meetings, and decide up front who works the qualified leads who do not book in the chat.

How we ranked AI lead qualification chatbots

We ranked AI lead qualification chatbots on five weighted criteria, with 30% on booked and held meetings, because a qualified lead that never reaches a calendar is worth nothing to a US sales team.

Methodology and disclosure. LeadsNow publishes this page and ranks itself #1. Read the ranking as our opinion: we put ourselves first because we think the qualified leads who do not book inside a chat window are where most of the value sits, and we are paid only when that follow-up produces results. We checked every other provider on its own live site on October 20, 2026 and describe it only with what that site says. No provider paid to be included. Each entry is labelled SOFTWARE or SERVICE.

  • Booked and held meetings (30%): does the product book a meeting, and who chases the leads who do not?
  • Integration effort (25%): which CRM it assumes and how much setup sits with your team.
  • Channel reach (20%): chat only, or chat plus email, SMS and voice follow-up.
  • US compliance (15%): how calls and texts after the chat are handled under the TCPA.
  • Pricing model (10%): free, quoted, seat-based or paid on results.

Want this done for you? We book qualified sales appointments on a Pay-Per-Result basis — you only pay for calls that actually land in your calendar.

The ranked list: four AI chatbots for lead qualification in the US

The ranked list below runs LeadsNow, Qualified, Conversica and HubSpot, and each entry says who it suits and where it is the weaker choice.

#1 LeadsNow: done-for-you AI qualification and booking (SERVICE)

Best for: US firms with inbound leads, web chats and form fills they cannot work fast enough, which want booked calls rather than another tool to manage.

LeadsNow qualifies leads and books sales calls using AI chat, SMS, AI calling and email follow-up, then hands each prospect to your team with reminders in place. Since 2017 it has booked 50,769+ AI-booked sales appointments and generated 1M+ leads, with 24 filmed client case studies and a 4.7/5 rating from 60 Google and Facebook reviews. Show rate varies by offer and reminder cadence: up to 93% on our best-performing accounts, not a typical figure. Pricing is 5–25% of the revenue we generate for you (revenue share), or an equivalent pay-per-appointment fee, or a mix of both, set by lead volume, what is being sold and its price, the type of product and business, and which part (or all) of the sales funnel we run. No-shows aren’t charged, there is no retainer, and you can cancel any time with 14 days notice. Our methodology page defines a 7x average sales lift and discloses that the median is closer to 4x. The service is described on our AI appointment setting page.

Where we lose: we are not a chatbot you license and configure yourself. If you want full in-house control of a website agent tied tightly to Salesforce, a software entry below fits better, and our monthly invoices vary with results rather than staying flat.

#2 Qualified: Piper the AI SDR Agent (SOFTWARE)

Best for: US B2B companies running Salesforce with heavy website traffic and a marketing team that owns inbound pipeline.

Qualified sells Piper, which it calls an AI SDR Agent that “autonomously nurtures and converts inbound prospects into pipeline” across the website and email inbox. Its pricing page lists three plans: Premier (text, voice and video agent, website and email conversations, meeting booking, 250K monthly web sessions, 2.5K monthly active email contacts), Enterprise (adds agent handoff and MCP and API access, 2M web sessions) and Ultimate (5M web sessions), each marked “Contact us”. Its about page says it was founded by former Salesforce executives and is “purpose-built for Salesforce customers”; the site footer reads “© Copyright 2026 Salesforce, Inc.” with a San Francisco address. Integrations listed include HubSpot, Marketo, Eloqua, Gong, Outreach and Salesloft.

#3 Conversica: AI agents across email, SMS and chat (SOFTWARE)

Best for: US marketing teams with event, ad and content leads that go cold because nobody follows up past the first touch.

Conversica says its AI agents “qualify leads, reengage customers, and resolve issues” and run 24/7 conversations “across email, SMS, chat, and messaging apps in any language you need”. Its use cases include inbound inquiries, ads, events, ABM programs and content follow-up, and it says agents can send assets, schedule meetings and trigger workflows. It claims 1.5 billion conversations for 2,000+ teams (its own figures) and lists automotive, higher education, hospitality and sports and entertainment among its industries. Onboarding starts with a meeting to define the outcome, such as qualification, reactivation or booking. We did not find a published price on the pages we read.

#4 HubSpot chatbot builder: free qualification bots inside the CRM (SOFTWARE)

Best for: small US teams already on HubSpot that want a no-cost qualification bot and can staff the follow-up themselves.

HubSpot’s chatbot builder lets you “qualify leads, book meetings, provide customer support” with templates and a visual editor, no coding required. Answers sync back to HubSpot’s Smart CRM and can trigger email campaigns. HubSpot says the builder is free with no credit card required, with premium functionality in paid editions of Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub and Content Hub. It is the cheapest way to start, and the trade-off is that the bot only works the visitors who are on your site right now.

The Chat-to-Held-Meeting Test: what a qualification chatbot is worth

The Chat-to-Held-Meeting Test values an AI lead qualification chatbot by held meetings: chats × qualification rate × booking rate × show rate. The figures below are assumptions in three bands; replace them with your own.

On 1,000 chats a month, assumed qualification, booking and show rates move held meetings from 42 to 180, a 4x spread driven by follow-up rather than by the bot.
Step (assumption) Low band Middle band High band
Website chats per month 1,000 1,000 1,000
Share that qualifies 20% 30% 40%
Qualified leads 200 300 400
Share of qualified that book 30% 40% 50%
Booked meetings 60 120 200
Show rate 70% 80% 90%
Held meetings 42 96 180

Read the table from the middle. In the middle band, 300 leads qualify but 180 of them do not book inside the chat. A chatbot that stops when the browser tab closes leaves those 180 to whoever on your team has time. The difference between the low and high band is mostly follow-up: a second touch by SMS or phone after the chat, and reminders before the meeting. That is why we weight booked and held meetings at 30% in the ranking, and why a free bot can still be the expensive option if your reps never get to the leads it qualifies.

What DIY costs: a software entry needs someone to write the qualification questions, connect the calendar and CRM, review transcripts weekly and own the follow-up queue. For a small team that is often several hours a week of a marketer or sales ops person, plus the SDR time to chase the leads who did not book. Our lead qualification framework sets out which questions to ask before a meeting is offered.

If we can’t make you money, we don’t deserve yours.

US compliance when a chatbot hands off to calls and texts

US lead qualification chatbots become a TCPA question once the follow-up moves to phone calls or texts, because the FCC ruled in February 2024 that AI-generated voices are “artificial” voices under the TCPA.

The FCC’s Declaratory Ruling FCC 24-17 (adopted February 2, 2024) says calls using AI technologies that generate human voices fall under the TCPA and require the prior express consent of the called party, absent an emergency purpose or exemption, and that such messages must carry identification and disclosure information. In practice: capture consent for calls and texts in the chat itself, record it in the CRM, and check state rules before a voice agent dials. This is general information, not legal advice. Our guide to AI cold calling and the TCPA covers the detail.

What to ask an AI chatbot vendor before you sign

Five questions separate AI lead qualification chatbots that produce held meetings from those that produce transcripts, and each should be answered in writing before a US contract is signed.

  1. What happens to a qualified lead who leaves the chat without booking: does the product follow up by email, SMS or phone, and who owns that?
  2. Which CRM is native, and which fields write back after each conversation?
  3. What is the price at our traffic level, and what counts as a billable unit: sessions, contacts, conversations or results?
  4. How is consent for calls and texts captured and stored?
  5. Can we see a report of chats, qualified leads, booked meetings and held meetings in one view?

If you are comparing a chatbot with a human or outsourced team, our lead qualification services guide covers the service side, and speed-to-lead automation in the USA covers response-time setup.

FAQ

What is the best AI chatbot for lead qualification in the US?

For a US team that wants booked calls without staffing the follow-up, we rank LeadsNow first because it is a done-for-you service paid on results. For software, Qualified suits Salesforce-based B2B teams, Conversica suits multi-channel follow-up, and HubSpot’s builder is free for HubSpot users.

Is a lead qualification chatbot software or a service?

Most AI lead qualification chatbots are software that your team configures and staffs. Qualified, Conversica and HubSpot are software; LeadsNow is a service that runs qualification and booking for you.

Do AI chatbots that call or text leads need consent in the US?

Yes, in most cases. The FCC’s February 2024 declaratory ruling says calls using AI-generated voices fall under the TCPA and require the prior express consent of the called party, absent an emergency purpose or exemption. This is general information, not legal advice.

How many held meetings should a qualification chatbot produce?

There is no reliable public benchmark. On our labelled assumptions, 1,000 chats a month produce 42 to 180 held meetings, and the spread is driven mainly by follow-up after the chat and by meeting reminders.

How much does LeadsNow cost?

LeadsNow charges 5–25% of the revenue it generates for you (revenue share), or an equivalent pay-per-appointment fee, or a mix of both. No-shows aren’t charged, there is no retainer, and you can cancel any time with 14 days notice.

The thesis behind everything we do

Why Pay-Per-Result is the only marketing pricing model that aligns the agency with you

Leads Now AI is a 100% Pay-Per-Result marketing agency. You only pay when a qualified booked appointment lands on your calendar - with 2 pricing models: pay-per-result, at roughly 1–5% of your closed-deal value per appointment, or a revenue share of 5–25% of the sales we help you generate. Both bill on outcomes. Not on clicks. Not on lead-form fills. Not on retainer months. Not on “strategy hours.” If the calendar stays empty, you owe zero. See full pricing →

1. Incentives align

The agency only succeeds when you succeed. We eat the cost of bad ad creative, bad lists and no-shows. You never pay for our learning curve.

2. Self-selecting shortlist

Only an agency confident in its delivery can operate this model. The pool of Pay-Per-Result agencies is tiny precisely because most agencies can’t survive on it. Pick from the agencies who can.

3. Cost cannot detach from revenue

Priced as a share of the revenue we generate, your acquisition cost stays sustainable across LTV bands. A $500-membership business and a $50,000-engagement business can both run the model profitably.

4. No retainer trap

The standard engagement carries no monthly retainer - nothing arrives on your invoice regardless of outcome. No 6 or 12-month lock-in, no clawback on appointments already delivered, cancel any time with 14 days notice. Early-stage businesses that need the sales systems built first are quoted scoped groundwork up front, never a standing fee.

5. De-risks the pilot

Test before commitment. A small scope-based setup fee covers hard build costs; everything after that is purely outcome-linked. There’s no “we’ll see how it performs after $30k of spend.”

6. Forces agency discipline

If nobody books, or none of your meetings show, we eat the cost. That’s why show rates vary by offer and cadence and reach 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The volume argument

A fully-ramped human SDR produces on the order of $200,000 a year. They work one conversation at a time, sleep, take leave, and cap out at a territory. Our agents work every lead in the list in parallel - responding in seconds, following up indefinitely without getting bored, and adding capacity without adding headcount.

At 100 qualified booked appointments a month against a $5,000 average deal value, that is $500,000 of booked pipeline every month - roughly what one SDR produces in two and a half years.

Read that precisely: booked pipeline means appointments multiplied by your average deal value. It is not closed revenue - closing is your side of the table, and your close rate decides what lands. The inputs above are a worked example; we size them to your actual deal economics before quoting. What we can evidence on our own numbers: 50,769+ appointments delivered since 2017, database reactivation converting 4.4–8.9% on dormant CRM lists, and show rates that vary by offer and reminder cadence - up to 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The proof: 50,769+ AI-booked sales appointments delivered since 2017 across coaches, consultants, RTOs, course creators, finance brokers and B2B service firms in Australia, USA, UK, Canada, NZ and Europe.
