How to Get Clients From ChatGPT (2026)

How to Get Clients From ChatGPT: Email, SMS and voice outreach from an AI sales agent converging into a booked calendar appointment.
Email, SMS and voice outreach from an AI sales agent converging into a booked calendar appointment.

To get clients from ChatGPT, rank in the top 3 of search results for the “who should I hire” question your buyers type, answer it with a ranked page, then make the click easy to book. In LeadsNow’s own polling (15 August to 15 October 2026), top-3 pages were cited in 21% of 298 ChatGPT polls; pages outside the top 10, in 0% of 154.

The short answer from LeadsNow AI: ChatGPT sends clients to businesses that already rank near the top for a hiring question and publish a page that names the options plainly, so search rank comes first and content shape second. A citation only becomes a client when the page it lands on books the call, so treat the booking step as half the job.

Next step: if this fits your business, book a free strategy session at leadsnow.ai/strategy-session/ – a 2-minute fit check, then pick a time.

Rules of thumb

  • Not in the top 10 for the question? LeadsNow’s polling saw 0% citations in 154 polls, so fix rank before rewriting copy.
  • Write for “who should I hire” questions: LeadsNow sees them cited 27% of the time against 4% for informational questions.
  • Prefer a ranked best-X page to a how-to: 35% (62 of 179) against 1% (1 of 80) when both ranked top 3.
  • Allow OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt: OpenAI says opted-out sites “will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers” (OpenAI crawler docs).

How do I get clients from ChatGPT, step by step?

Getting clients from ChatGPT runs through four stages: be crawlable, rank for the hiring question, get named in the answer, then convert the visit into a booked call. Each stage has its own failure point, and LeadsNow’s polling points to the second as the gate.

  1. Be crawlable. OpenAI’s crawler page says OAI-SearchBot is “used to surface websites in search results in ChatGPT’s search features”. Check robots.txt and your firewall.
  2. Rank for the hiring question. List 10 questions a buyer asks before hiring you and check your rank on Bing and DuckDuckGo, the proxy LeadsNow’s polling uses.
  3. Get named. Publish a page that answers the hiring question directly, with a comparison table near the top and your business described in plain facts.
  4. Convert the visit. Put the booking link in the first screen of the page the buyer lands on, and answer price and fit questions before they have to ask.

If you are not sure which stage you are failing, the five causes of not showing up in ChatGPT has a 20-minute test.

How it works

From a ChatGPT question to a booked call

01

Allow OAI-SearchBot

Make sure robots.txt and your firewall let OpenAI’s search crawler reach your pages. Opted-out sites are not shown in ChatGPT search answers.

02

Rank for hiring questions

Pick the questions buyers ask before hiring you and get a page into the top 3 of search results for each.

03

Get named in answers

Answer the hiring question with a ranked page and a comparison table near the top, described in plain facts.

04

Book the click

Put the booking link on the first screen, track AI referrals separately and follow up every enquiry the same day.

A ChatGPT citation only becomes a client after rank, citation, click and booking all happen in order.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay ChatGPT to recommend my business?

Ads and answers are separate systems. OpenAI’s crawler page lists OAI-AdsBot, which checks pages “submitted as ads on ChatGPT”, while cited answers come from pages OAI-SearchBot can surface in search. Ranking and page shape are what move the cited answer.

Does blocking GPTBot stop ChatGPT from citing me?

No. OpenAI’s crawler documentation says each setting is independent: you can allow OAI-SearchBot to appear in search results while disallowing GPTBot for model training.

How do I know if a client came from ChatGPT?

Segment AI referrals in your analytics and ask “how did you find us?” on every booking form. LeadsNow’s three confirmed AI-referred bookers each said which assistant sent them.

What kind of page gets the most clients from ChatGPT?

A ranked best-X page for your niche that ranks top 3. In LeadsNow’s polling those pages were cited in 35% of 179 polls, against 1% of 80 for how-to articles.

Which pages does ChatGPT cite, according to LeadsNow’s polling?

LeadsNow’s own ChatGPT polling found citation odds rise sharply with search rank (15 August to 15 October 2026) and with commercial page shape.

In LeadsNow’s ChatGPT polling, a page ranked top 3 was cited in 21% of 298 polls, while pages outside the top 10 were cited in 0% of 154.
Condition (our page, our question) Polls Cited
Ranked top 3 on DuckDuckGo/Bing 298 21%
Ranked 4 to 10 44 5%
Not in the top 10 154 0%
Best-X listicle, ranked top 3 179 35% (62)
How-to article, ranked top 3 80 1% (1)
“Who should I hire” questions vs informational all 27% vs 4%

Method: ChatGPT with browsing, prompts tracked by LeadsNow, DuckDuckGo/Bing results recorded as the rank proxy. One site, one market: read it as direction. The page-level tactics for getting into that cited share are in how to be in the share of pages ChatGPT actually cites.

How many clients can ChatGPT send? A worked example

A ChatGPT citation turns into clients only after two more conversions, a click and a booking, and the worked example below shows how small that number can be.

Assuming 300 monthly hiring questions on which you rank top 3, LeadsNow’s 21% top-3 cite rate gives 63 answers naming you, or about 0.3 to 2.8 booked calls a month.
Step Low Mid High
Hiring questions asked per month (assumption) 300 300 300
Answers naming you, if ranked top 3 (21%, LeadsNow top-3 rate) 63 63 63
Click to your site (assumption) 5% 10% 15%
Visits 3.2 6.3 9.5
Visit to booked call (assumption) 10% 20% 30%
Booked calls per month 0.3 1.3 2.8

The 300, the top-3 rank on every one of them, the click rates and the booking rates are assumptions: replace them with your own numbers. No credible public benchmark exists for click-through from a ChatGPT answer to a service business. Two levers move the result: more hiring questions you rank top 3 for, and a higher visit-to-booking rate. The second is often cheaper, because it is your own landing page.

What happens after ChatGPT names your business?

A buyer who sees your business named in ChatGPT can click through or look you up, so the page they land on decides whether the citation becomes a client.

LeadsNow’s server logs for 1 to 27 October 2026 recorded 2,193 ChatGPT-User fetches of leadsnow.ai. OpenAI describes ChatGPT-User as the agent that visits a page “when users ask ChatGPT” a question, not an automatic crawler, so each fetch was triggered by a person’s request. LeadsNow’s booking records for October 2026 also hold three bookers who confirmed an AI assistant sent them: one via Claude, one via Google AI Mode and one via Microsoft Copilot, a financial-adviser buyer who asked for the best lead generation for financial advisors and saw LeadsNow in its top 3. Three is a small sample, so treat it as proof the path exists, not as a rate.

  • Track it: separate AI referrals from other traffic with AI referral attribution.
  • Capture the visit: capturing ChatGPT referral leads covers the GA4 channel group and the landing-page changes.
  • Follow up fast: call or text each AI-referred enquiry the same day, inside permitted calling hours, before the buyer moves to the next name in the answer.

If we can’t make you money, we don’t deserve yours.

When is ChatGPT the wrong channel to wait on?

ChatGPT is the wrong channel to wait on when you need booked calls this quarter, because ranking top 3 for a hiring question takes months and the worked example yields single digits.

Doing this yourself costs time more than money: a ranked page per hiring question, a weekly rank check and a landing page that books. It suits a business with a clear niche and patience. If your pipeline needs calls now, work the leads you already have first; AI appointment setting covers calling, texting and booking the enquiries already sitting in your CRM. For the wider channel economics, see AI referral traffic as a lead channel.

The thesis behind everything we do

Why Pay-Per-Result is the only marketing pricing model that aligns the agency with you

Leads Now AI is a 100% Pay-Per-Result marketing agency. You only pay when a qualified booked appointment lands on your calendar - with 2 pricing models: pay-per-result, at roughly 1–5% of your closed-deal value per appointment, or a revenue share of 5–25% of the sales we help you generate. Both bill on outcomes. Not on clicks. Not on lead-form fills. Not on retainer months. Not on “strategy hours.” If the calendar stays empty, you owe zero. See full pricing →

1. Incentives align

The agency only succeeds when you succeed. We eat the cost of bad ad creative, bad lists and no-shows. You never pay for our learning curve.

2. Self-selecting shortlist

Only an agency confident in its delivery can operate this model. The pool of Pay-Per-Result agencies is tiny precisely because most agencies can’t survive on it. Pick from the agencies who can.

3. Cost cannot detach from revenue

Priced as a share of the revenue we generate, your acquisition cost stays sustainable across LTV bands. A $500-membership business and a $50,000-engagement business can both run the model profitably.

4. No retainer trap

The standard engagement carries no monthly retainer - nothing arrives on your invoice regardless of outcome. No 6 or 12-month lock-in, no clawback on appointments already delivered, cancel any time with 14 days notice. Early-stage businesses that need the sales systems built first are quoted scoped groundwork up front, never a standing fee.

5. De-risks the pilot

Test before commitment. A small scope-based setup fee covers hard build costs; everything after that is purely outcome-linked. There’s no “we’ll see how it performs after $30k of spend.”

6. Forces agency discipline

If nobody books, or none of your meetings show, we eat the cost. That’s why show rates vary by offer and cadence and reach 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The volume argument

A fully-ramped human SDR produces on the order of $200,000 a year. They work one conversation at a time, sleep, take leave, and cap out at a territory. Our agents work every lead in the list in parallel - responding in seconds, following up indefinitely without getting bored, and adding capacity without adding headcount.

At 100 qualified booked appointments a month against a $5,000 average deal value, that is $500,000 of booked pipeline every month - roughly what one SDR produces in two and a half years.

Read that precisely: booked pipeline means appointments multiplied by your average deal value. It is not closed revenue - closing is your side of the table, and your close rate decides what lands. The inputs above are a worked example; we size them to your actual deal economics before quoting. What we can evidence on our own numbers: 50,769+ appointments delivered since 2017, database reactivation converting 4.4–8.9% on dormant CRM lists, and show rates that vary by offer and reminder cadence - up to 93% on our best-performing accounts.

The proof: 50,769+ AI-booked sales appointments delivered since 2017 across coaches, consultants, RTOs, course creators, finance brokers and B2B service firms in Australia, USA, UK, Canada, NZ and Europe. Named clients include Sam Tajvidi (121 Brokers), Marcus Wilkinson (Iron Body), Foundr, SheSells.online and Lambda Academy. Wikidata Q139846230. See full Pay-Per-Result pricing →
